In the past year or so I have seen the dramatic change in people’s lives due to the use of technology. A recent study done by mobile insurance.com has shown that the average person spends 90 min a day on their phones this adds up to 23 days a year and 3.9 years of the average persons life. If you ever ask someone for the time, their first reaction would be to check their phone for the time, and some of them are wearing watches. 57% people say they no longer need an alarm clock because the phone has filled that spot and of those 50% no longer wear a watch as their mobile is their first choice for knowing the time.
Mobile phones have changed our relationships with family, friend, or even enemies. Although it increased the social network, but more than half of the calls or text we make are to the same 6-8 different people. Technology has made us more selfish and separate, there are only “I’s” and not as many “We’s”. all we want is to have more like on our post and as many retweets on our tweets. We want to increase the number friend on our Facebook friend list.In the video “Can We Auto-Correct Humanity?”, he tells an example about wanted to meet him face to face, his friend replied and said when do you want to SKYPE.
All people want to do is capture their moments and later post them for their friends to see, but wouldn't it be better to live though the moment. We want to see the moment through your LCD screen.I am not saying to stop capturing them but to live life with the people you love.
In conclusion we have a choice to pick to be on our phones or talk in person. We choose to be on our phones. I would like to end this blog with a question, how many year of our lives will we spend on our mobile phones in 10 years?
